Riceland Awarded $136.8 Million In Suit Against Bayer CropScience

A Stuttgart jury on Friday awarded Riceland Foods Inc. $136.8 million in its lawsuit against Bayer CropScience over genetically modified rice. The award is believed to be the largest in Arkansas history. The circuit court jury said Bayer CropScience owed Riceland $11.8 million in compensatory damages and $125 million in punitive damages.

Faith and Genetics

What can be said about faith and genetics?   The Biotechnology Reference Group of the Canadian Council of Churches has developed a draft curriculum to introduce discussion on the topic of genetics to those who are not scientists and may feel overwhelmed by the sorts of choices now available.   The draft curriculum is being tested now and should be available in the fall for use as an educational tool.

Quaker Earthcare Witness
